I apologize beforehand for these stupid questions:
1) Practically speaking, how often do you get to take a warm shower?
2) What about food? Is it reasonable to be able to have a healthy diet? Any brief food recommendations?
3) What about the possibility of charging modern electronic devices? I imagine the company I work for doesn't want me using the cigarette lighter to charge a cell phone? (If trucks even have a cigarette lighter).
4) Is it practical to expect to be entertained by things like kindles or tablets? If not what do you do for entertainment (I'm assuming you have some down time every night....yes or no?).
5) Does constantly having to use public toilets get really annoying?
Please keep in mind these questions pertain to a rookie truck driver who would, presumably, have less freedoms than a veteran owner.
Thanks,
-Mark

1. every 2 to 3 days.
2. could be I personally do alot of fast food. whicb of course is not healthy.
3. seriously? Most Trucks are probaply going to have 2± cig lighter plugs.Alot of companies wont want you to use an Inverter.
That is a converter that changes the 12v DC to 110v AC.
4. Sure I have my Smartphone Tablet and Laptop. So.eguys have TVs XBoxes and so on.
5. No -
I take a shower every AM unless I have to wake up at a load/unload location. But I typically manage to wake up at a truck stop, use a shower credit (from fueling) and get a shower daily. I also spend 1-2 nights a week in a hotel.
There are ways to eat relatively healthy, if you're eating for less than $20 day, you should be maintaining (or losing) weight and this is a realistic expectation. However, you should treat yourself at least one day a week to whatever you feel in the mood for. Eating Bologna sandwiches, Subway sandwiches, water, and cereal 7 days a week will get real old, real fast.
Inverters and laptops and small TV's (with DVD player) are practically a given for most. XBoxes are power hungry and not too many inverters can support these but some drivers have them but hopefully you won't have too much time to play games. -
1) Practically speaking, how often do you get to take a warm shower?
As a solo driver usually every day. Provided you shut down at a truck stop.
2) What about food? Is it reasonable to be able to have a healthy diet? Any brief food recommendations
Yes, whenever possible try to stock up at Walmart. Its cheaper and a lot more healthy.
3) What about the possibility of charging modern electronic devices? I imagine the company I work for doesn't want me using the cigarette lighter to charge a cell phone? (If trucks even have a cigarette lighter).
You can get a small plug in inverter that will run pretty much all of your electronics.
4) Is it practical to expect to be entertained by things like kindles or tablets? If not what do you do for entertainment (I'm assuming you have some down time every night....yes or no?).
Yes.
5) Does constantly having to use public toilets get really annoying?
Yes, most definitely! Nothing like brushing your teeth with 20 other truckers trying to drop the kids off at the pool!
