I have a 1997 Peterbilt 379 that has unfortunately been sitting for a while. It's been started regularly, but not driven, and the batteries at this point won't hold a charge. They're supposed to have a lifetime warranty, but the manufacturer won't honor it without the warranty certificate -- which was not among the paperwork I got from the previous owner.
Consequently, I need new batteries. I'd prefer maintenance-free and I'd prefer something that will stand up to being left alone for a while, as the truck may be sitting for a bit longer. I'd like some suggestions on which batteries to get and the best place to get them in central Texas. (The truck is currently parked in Austin, but I'll happily drive to Houston or Dallas for a better deal.)
Thanks,
-Stian

People I know who have trucks that set for extended periods of time, have a master disconnect switch and that seems to work pretty well for them. Something to think about for getting done while you're already throwing batteries at it.

Batteries with higher cca have thin plates in them, batteries with lower cca have thicker plates in them which means they'll last longer.

Napa #7236.American made.Been using 100's of them at shop for close to 10 years.Maybe 5 defects in all that time. Can use warranty nationwide at any napa.good luck.

Batteries Plus.....

I use Deka 730 CCA deep cycle batteries. Got 3 years out of them. On my 3rd set of them.

Just bought 3 Deka batteries 760CCA. Price $286.03 including tax. Only bought Deka cause there USA made. Read good review's on them. Previously had bought Interstate "WORKAHOLIC" and lasted 5 years plus. But there more expensive now and there made "South of the Border". Anyone know how many USA battery manufactures are left and who are they besides Deka ?

NAPA's batteries are made by Deka.

Deka is still in Pa, as is TurboStart. I'm not sure if TurboStart makes any truck batteries, but their automotive, ATV and racing stuff is all above average.
