I have vary basic knolage on battery and electrical systems and have never had a problem setting anything up or using them but seeing this is not my truck I think ill ask for comments on my idea over the information that is provided online.

I run the 2010 Prostar Eagle it has four batteries under the driver side behind the fuel tank and an empty rack on the passenger side behind the fuel tank that holds the fairing on.

I will have a custom box built to mount on this rack that holds 8-12 batteries that are the same as the ones that are currently on the truck. Now if I connect them all togeter + to + and - to - attach my 2k inverter to one end and on the other end run a set of cables to the current trucks battery box and connecting + to + and - to - i should have a lasting power source correct?

Now at 1400 rpms for around 10 hours would this be enough to charge them all to 14v from 12v?

My attempt is to avoid using a generator to power the items in my truck that i could be using in my down time. I enjoy playing games second to working and i like to go all out when i do so but I do NOT want to disturb the drivers around me with a loud generater.

Constructive questions and comments please. Thank you.

I dont know that youre alternator is big enough too chage 8-12 batteries. I think it would fry out way earlier than its normal lifespan. You may need to get a small generator for 4-500 from home depot. I know some people have figured out how to mount a second alternator, but that is beyond me. Plus you may need to check youre warranty (if u have one), it may void it.

    TheSquatch Thanks this.

8-12 batteties are going to weigh a ton, use 4 deep cycle batteries with a isolator and a manual cut-off to control the chrarging circuit.

8 batteries you might have to run haz mat placards, the guy with the deep cycle has a good idea, just dont how they would work in a trucking application. lots of luck

You can get a small gas generator that you can strap to your catwalk behind your cab, they are inexpensive and can provide the power that you need. only pain is having too hook it up at night and filling the gas can.

the deep cycle batteries are the same as the electric apus use, the isolator keeps the alternator from trying to top them off every time you start the truck, the manual switch lets you open the circuit to charge them when needed. Also use a xantrex inverter/charger with shore power hook up to charge batteries when at home/yard.
