Well short answer, NO! What would you replace the lost revenue with? Government controls everything and anything any more. I surprised elogs took this long to be mandated.

If every truck driver in the US stopped driving their trucks for one day the it would take the US economy 1 year to recover its very possible

Tell me again how it's possible to stop the hundreds of thousands of trucks?

This is the primary issue. You likely couldn't even stop 10% of the trucks... Why?

    -I can't stop, I'd go broke!
-more freight for me to grab if you want to stop!
-what's wrong with the industry? I'll keep rolling.
    -No hablo ingles!
    -my company would fire me!
    -I don't care. I run illegal anyways.
    -doesn't bother me.
-I think the government is doing a fine job!

Plus many many more other excuses you'll get from drivers as to why they won't stop for even a day.

So, could we get back to the way it used to be?

Let me ask you this... I hear people all the time say they want to go back to the days when things were more simple.

90% of people forget that those "simpler times" involved no AC, no Facebook/social media, no TV, they had to hitch up the horses to the wagon to go anywhere and their living wasn't made in a cushy cubical.

You could be a part of the minority... But think about it. Do you REALLY want it back the way it used to be?

You all have to remember, less dot involvement, more abuse the company thinks they can get away with. Sure, I don't like the regulations an laws that a pencil pusher wrote just as much as the next guy, but I also enjoy being home and not having to do this x run because dispatch said its cool. Well the law is on my side here dispatch. So come back in 10-12-24 hours or whenever you start your cushy 7-3 job.

People want change, but they keep re-electing the same clowns over and over hoping for a different result. Not many Americans are willing to venture off the well worn path and try something different.
Keep those Dems & Repubs in office and it will only continue to get worse.
