    Two years ago my mother passed away just before Xmas on a Friday. I had just pulled in to the terminal, and was doing paperwork when my phone rang, and my Dad asked me to come home as soon as possible. I stopped in the office and told them something was going on, and I would let them know as soon as I found out something. My truck was loaded for a delivery the next day, and they found another driver to handle the load, just knowing something was wrong. When I found out my mother had passed, I was told to take as much time as I needed, and let them know when I was ready to go back to work. I received nothing but support from the people where I work, and that's another reason why I am content where I am. Things like that make all the difference.

    Since then I have had other drivers lose family members, and I've volunteered to handle whatever work they were doing. It's the right thing to do, and the way we handle things.

    Precision Motor Transport aka BMT/Tri Star has a program where every quarter the drivers are given a grade A-E. This report card lists their preventable accidents, log book poinits, fuel compliance,damage to cars etc. Every driver knows every 90 days what the records are for them. Yearly bonus payouts are based on the drivers overall average grade for the year.

    I think this system helps drivers keep track of what might possibly be reported on their DAC if anything. Maybe if more companies would give drivers an evaluation on a regular basis drivers could better manage their DAC reports, and have proof of their performance (the report card) to contest any wrong data on their record. PMTG also gives drivers at the end of the year a total of their miles driven, cars delivered, any damages, etc. If you dont work for a company that will put this information on paper for you, you should make a point of asking for it on a regular basis to protect yourself?.
