Nope, its too far up your exhaust release valve.
Doing what is expected is a great way to keep your job.
Being nice is an even better way to get the job done faster. Do you see our point yet?DrtyDiesel, kw9's rock and Lonesome Thank this. -
Right, and if you're doing the bare minimum, there's 40 other guys doing the same thing, so why should you be treated any differently? A 30 cent bottle of water or soda makes the difference, and if some of you are so allergic to the idea, I recommend you don't do it.
I'll be the guy dropping off a soda with the guy on the forklift, and I'll likely be loaded or unloaded before you will. Enjoy your nap, I'm rolling.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Came in with my load on time, the supervisor at this place kept hinting about incentives to get unloaded.
Sign above him strictly stated the policy against payment.
Paid like he said.
Sat there just like everyone else, except I was poorer from the fee.truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
Right, big difference in a soda or water and a $20 bill. Screw that.
In fact, it was strongly suggested to me that I slip the "truck coordinator" a $10 or $20 at C&S Metro in Woodbridge, NJ in order to get a door quicker. Really? Hmm... union shop, and my uncle was a state union steward in Alaska, so I called him the next day.
He called the state steward in New Jersey, and I didn't have to pay anything, and I got right it when I got there... and for some reason, that "truck coordinator" was driving one of those two pallet ride-on pallet jacks. Young guy came off the floor and was the new "truck coordinator". -
Not interested in giving them anything anymore. I work for my stuff, then they can as well.
To even consider it after being screwed will not happen. -
Now I know how this "lumper" scam started!
Drivers who willingly paid the dock worker to DO HIS JOB!
It wasn't enough that the dock worker gets paid by his employer, now he gets paid by the truckdriver too.
Where does it end?
Should I "tip" the security guard for opening the gate for me next!???Last edited: Aug 6, 2011
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
It becomes to the point that the dock people EXPECT this from everyone.
Graft is rampant and such treatment rewards it. -
That's a scam, and it's illegal, and against union rules, but it happens, just not with me.
-
I will not reward anyone with such treatment. They want it, go to work.
