    did not mean that as sarcastic as it may read. I apply it to myself a lot. in process of remodeling my house, everyone tells me why not remodel yourself? I say because either, because I am smart enough to know how dumb I am, or I have enough sense to know I have no sense when building homes, or whatever it is that I have no knowledge or experience in.

    I posted something about needing to know your costs yesterday. Got a response, "Why's it matter what your cost is?"

    I think company guys making 30-something CPM see folks talking about rates above $2 or $3 per mile, and the dollar signs swimming in front of their eyes remove any common sense they might possess.

    After all, don't they all figure driving a truck is so easy even a caveman could do it?

    I don't get some people. Even someone completely devoid of anything resembling business sense has to know that you simply cannot run a truck for nothing.

    He thinks his truck was free because he took a loan against his home, and if he still makes the same payments it will probably take him 10 years longer to pay it off. What about when he has to buy another truck or have major repairs?

    bayou, I been saying that on a regular basis.

    I think its to easy to get at the moment, any yahoo with 300 bucks and ability to get insurance gets an mc number, long term it hurts everyone.

    I got a couple friends who charter fishing trips. Well, they do okay because they consistently put people on fish and get repeat business. But it's more competitive than trucking. Every yahoo with a pole dreams of early retirement and some residual income doing what looks like fun ! They tell me it's about 1 out of 5 customers are decent and respectful. The other 4 their kids start complaining or something. I mean I also have friends in construction. They have a hard time just getting work even cheap !.. know what I mean ?

    What I'm saying is we're in a pretty good line of work. Sure riddled with morons and all that, but with profit potential every day. That don't happen in other industries. Be thankful. And listen to Bayou, you might learn something. (-;
