Well here I am, I have made it through orientation and have finally been awarded my new Identity, that's right, I've been coded. (which in a different circumstance, say in a hospital, could be a very bad thing in this case I was happy to hear the news.)

Ill back up a step first. about a month or two ago I decided I needed ot take a different direction in my life so I went to a Truck Driving school spent 3 weeks, got my CDL class-A and started applying for jobs, simple as that and was, to my surprise, not looking for a job anymore but instead trying to decide which of the several offers I would chose. after weighing my options, I decided to go with Swift as my first company. I sat through the endless stack of paperwork it seemed and learned about the company and some policies etc. the orientation over all I would say was pretty good, they really did seem like they were there to help guide us to a successful career in the industry, and they tried hard to portray some possibly overlooked however obvious aspects to the job. such as not being there to see your family whenever you want, and not having normal set schedules to follow.

Now I have been given my Driver Code, and have met my mentor. tonight is the first night in the truck and tomorrow morning I will officially start my new life as a Big Rig driver and a constant nomad.

    123456 and Fewe Thank this.

Keep the bright, positive attitude you have now as your gypsy days increase. There will be tough times and you know they're coming. It's like winter--deal with it day by day.

Thousands before you have succeeded; so can you. Good wishes to you, driver.
