Welcome, fellow immigrant. The license doesn't take much time. Take the written test, take the road-test, DONE. That's how I did it, but I grew up on a farm driving all sorts of equipment. Give me the keys to something with wheels, and I'll drive it. Not everyone has that advantage.

Having a license doesn't mean you will get a job. Without experience or training, you will be uninsurable for the typical interstate, over the road job. You can often find a local job, particularly a farm job, where the insurance rules are different and lack of experience is not a problem. Get some employment experience and then move on when you can.

Depending on your skills, you may need to go to school first to get the education and training to learn to drive a semi-truck. That, as said, will take about a month and some money. You can go to a "company school" run by one of the major trucking companies, or you can go to a community college program. I would suggest going the community college route. Almost always cheaper and usually a better education and better credibility. Usually better job prospects, too.
