The Fuel Hauler Thread
I thoroughly enjoyed hauling fuel when I was at it. The pay could have been better, but the reality is hauling fuel is a super simple job. Just enough physical activity to keep your blood flowing. Was always fun when you got to stop at a station on fri/sat night in downtown or on the beach and got to see eye candy for miles.
Been at it for almost year, looking for advice on the next step

Driving in congested areas is no big deal.
Cars will always move for a truck. If they don’t want to at first just drive and keep an eye on them. Some times they need a little convincing.
If a car hits you oh well... our drivers get hit all the time by people on phones and what not.
If that’s all that’s holding you back don’t let it be. I’d rather work in the city than stare at corn all day.VIDEODROME and roadglide11 Thank this. -
I currently drive around boston so traffic doesnt bother me. I'm more worried that itd get in way of unloading fuel at the gas stations. Especially if its pay per load or something
-
Oh yeah screw getting paid per load. So many ways to lose money.
Line at the racks, traffic and break downs. Don’t even do it to yourself. You’re gonna be racing around everywhere stressed out. The only reason they pay per load is to benefit them.
Per hour with ot or tell them to kick rocks.Aamcotrans and roadglide11 Thank this. -
Can you have a regular schedule fuel hauling? I see a lot of nights and work weeks like sun-thurs.. is a mon thru Friday day shift uncommon?
Lav-25 Thanks this. -
Those shifts are gonna go to the senior drivers more than likely.
My last job was for a fuel company. I hauled DEF but the guys on day shift were all senior guys.roadglide11 Thanks this. -
Any input on pay for either hauling equipment or fuel? If I go equipment I'd probably start at one of the bigger name rental companies.
Fuel same deal probably a company like Groendyke.
Did some searching thru the forums and heard some really low pay for both tho.. -
Anyone here work/worked for sunbelt rentals? If I go equipment I'll probably need to get my feet wet in a company like that.. how are there trucks? Autos? Thanks
-
Nobody?

Check Phoenix out if you want to haul fuel locally.
Truckloads of fuel haulers there.
Cost of living is pennies compared to Massachusetts.
Western Refining is the top of the food chain there, and should be your goal.
You need 3 years to get in with them.Sirscrapntruckalot and roadglide11 Thank this.
