I have a question for anyone that works there.. How is their health insurance? My step-son is on ADHD meds which can get pricey as can his drs so curious if its good coverage or if there is alot out of pocket. Not married yet so my angel could keep him on hers for now, but she wants to walk down that isle sometime soon and I am going to take the plunge. great woman and I am lucky to have her.

    hargis,

Thanks for the input. I have recently graduated from CDL school and load this site with lots of questions. Maverick is one of my top 6-8 companies that I have spoken with. I am in the Chattanooga area, prefer flatbed and maverick does indeed seem to have a lot going on for the good. I am also looking at McElory, CT Transport, TMC as well as others.. what can you tell me that would make Maverick stand out above the rest and why should I work for them? I'm looking for pay, home time, orientation, and driver training... i guess if you are in S. Pits and I am in Chattanooga could you possible be my training?

I've heard mixed reviews about McElroy. I had a guy go to orientation from my class there and didn't make it three days. He said he grinded the gears when he was doing is driving test and they didn't take him. Plus you had to watch your language in the trucks because of the camera's and such in the trucks. Now I also heard they get you home on the weekends and all that good stuff. Do your research. I chose Maverick because of everything I read and I like there equipment. Not because it is an automatic, just because it looks good. When I called and talked to the recruiter which was Donnie Gandolph he was the best one out of everyone other company I talked too. I've heard great things about TMC, but in my area in Alabama they didn't offer home time every weekend. Also if you have facebook go on the Maverick Q&A and ask and read questions there.

    TAC12 Thanks this.

As far me and my family the insurance is just what we needed alot better than my old one. We have United Health Care the deductables runs about $500 a person aand the copays are very low at regular DR visits. We are able to find a Dr that is in network in just about any city across the country your not limited to the city and state that you live in. As far as our prescription coverage most of the meds are very low cost and for the name brand drugs that have no generics is topped at $50. IMost of my wifes meds are ranging between $5 and $30 she has 2 that us $50. Very good Dr are covered and wide variety. The dental has your basic coverage as well as the vision but I have never had to fight with theese guys to their part of anything or to have test or procedures done. not sure what kind of premiums you are used to paying but as a driver ours are a little on high side but they also qualify for non taxable. For me and my wife I pay about $80 a week but with the tax break and pay rate you never notice it.

Well I will have to warn you about about just going with the first company that calls. for sure yoou want to do your research and talk to drivers since most recruiters get paid by commission they will try harder to sell you the job and then it turns out not to be what they said it would be. Our recruiters are paid hourly and they do noit have a quota to fill, we run a strict NO LIE policy, this goes for everybody employed here at Maverick this company is straight foward wwith you from the start and it continues that way. As far as flatbed in our area I have done very well over the past 6 years good miles good hometime and good equipment. They treat allmof us as family not just another Number we are people and we get treated that way. Everyone here has been very friendly and supportive in everything that I have ever needed. We run one of the best and most thoruogh training programs out here today, not to count one of highest paid. You have 2 weeks in little rock 1 week for orientation and 1 week for securement, then you have your time in the truck with an instructor we take our time so you are ready for the job. we ahve a support group that is always there and a work environment that is very relaxed. We have very good pay scale and it continues to increase.

Bass Ackwards Bo and TAC12 Thank this.
