It has been observed that you can't mark sleeper if you are out of the truck, but you can mark off duty while in the sleeper. I know guys that never do a split and always mark sleeper and off duty on the off duty line.

Anything but the drive line can be edited on E-logs, from what I have been told. The big difference is in who is allowed to edit, and apparently some drivers on some systems can edit the other 3 duty lines at will until they have been approved, and others can't.

I don't think the op has done anything that can't be fixed later, and if he had gone to off duty instead of sleeper, there would be nothing to fix. Certainly no violation as of yet.

I never knew you could refuse a reset after taking 34 off even though it was beyond your control. You know how companies are, loads comes first and they more or less dictate your hrs.You know as well as I do that if you have the hrs to run companies will make sure you run even if that means your home time is cut short

Actually the OP may have another problem besides sleeper or off duty, he handed over his truck to someone else (the repair facility) without logging off the system.

Since the OP put himself in the sleeper instead of logging off the system if the repair facility starts moving that truck around or test drives it the e-log system may kick in to on-duty, or even into driving if they drive far enough.

If it kicks into driving it may not be able to be edited.

Thats one of the FEW good things. I go home weekly, and dont like being stuck on a Saturday/Monday reset. Id much rather be on a Friday/Sunday reset. That way I can Leave out sunday to get to my monday delivery and then get my full 10 in prior to unloading. That way I can have a full clock to run monday and usually run like that the rest of the week. Assuming no issues with a break down.

I've always had to remind someone I was available. and not getting enough miles except for the unforeseen, like the year we had to peddle live chickens all over because of a management issue at the plant. Even before, at another company, it wasn't usually an issue of running out of hours, but you marked them all just because it gave you another 70.

I really miss late 2004 and the first 9 months of 2005 when you could split effectively, and didn't need 8 in the sleeper to extend the 14. Always compliant and never as tired as taking off with these rules and not having exhaustively planned the trip.

I never ran under the 8 in 15 rules.

To OP, are you getting any breakdown pay to sit in that hotel all weekend?

I am, however I am unsure of the amount, as Ive been told everything from $50 a day to $150 a day. Will have to clear this up with my FM tomorrow

which is also why i am not too annoyed by it, they havent found someone to repower my load so i still have it, and my breakdown pay as well.
