We just figured out why the elog kept saying we were over driving time smh how do we fix now that we know the actual hrs.. We just figured out we will still have to sit regardless at least drive 8 and sit 2 between switching drivers
Will they allow you to drive 4 hrs and sit 1 then switch instead of 8 hrs then sitting 2 while driving teams?
Been driving wrong on the elog.. How to fix??

Go read eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations and when you get done read it again. Learn the laws that govern us.

Reading is one thing, comprehension, now that's a dog of a different color. I wonder how many DOT inspectors can comprehend that mess. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a class to help them find common mistakes, what a world...what a world.TheRealPorkChopExpress, MagnumaMoose and x1Heavy Thank this.

OP's last sentence hurts my head and induces nausea. I did not think such twisting and bending of time rules in our DOT Logging can be so possible.
When we were a married team, we did it really simple. You got 10 hours to be 500+ miles. GET GOING. At the 10th hour she throws stuff into me back there and we swap. Now it's my turn to throw down 10 hours im gone.
Logs be ######, either Paper or ELD.QuietStorm, booley, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Sounds like you are attempting to both drive on the same code ? Each driver is assigned a code to keep track of the individual log hours. Do you both have separate code numbers ( ID numbers ? ) for the E-log ? Both numbers should be entered in the E-log at the same time. One of you should be logged in the sleeper and one on Active Driver.Tb0n3, x1Heavy and Tombstone69 Thank this.

See, that's what I'm trying to say. Just what are they(the powers that be) trying to accomplish, is it for safety, or is it for revenue. I guess we all know the answer to that.MagnumaMoose and x1Heavy Thank this.

Personally, 12/12 would make the most sense, 2 drivers and 24 hours in a day. You can only average 8:45 on-duty per day without 34's or you run out of hours. You have 2 hours of slack to balance the 70's. If you can't do it with that then you likely need to change the time you switch so one isn't doing all the sitting in a dock while the other does all the driving. Why make it needlessly complicated?
The best laid plans of dispatchers and drivers oft go astray. So you might need to adapt at times, but work towards getting back on schedule when you do. -
