That's exactly what happens: letter from insurance in writing, black on white reason for denial

I stated in an earlier post that the insurance company determined that I did not have a valid license. I had gotten a physical 10 months earlier
an I thought that the physical inspection place was going to send a copy of my inspection to the government so that I would be compliant with
all the laws and regulations. The Gov't was not notified that I did what I was supposed to and they listed my license invalid. I did not know this until I was talking to the police at the accident site. This is why the insurance company does not want to pay for anything ( even
though they had no problem in cashing my monthly checks to them). Moral of the story: It appears as though I will have to go find a new
lifestyle. I don't mind starting over, I am just disappointed by the fact that I invested 25 years of effort and money into this industry to come to the end of my road and to not be able to show something tangible for my efforts.
B.Rideandrepair, Dave_in_AZ, Tug Toy and 1 other person Thank this. -
You may win with a sympathetic judge.
I know DOT sends a letter saying you're about to get demoted when you're physical is at 30 days.
The OM and I wish you luck.indy89 Thanks this. -

They have covered the minimum liability for the accident, they still were on the hook for everything at the point of the discovery of an invalid cdl, which if any lawyer was involved on your side, he could have at least had a judge determine the cdl status, even reinstitute your cdl and/or force the insurance to cover it. -
Giving him the benefit of the doubt here on this one, he simply never sought a lawyer because he quite naively thought that because he paid his insurance, they wouldnt find an excuse to not pay. Upon denial of the claim, he again just accepted that as the end of the story.
while i can cut him some slack for being too trusting about what his options actually are, he also clearly needs to swallow his pride and do what everyone here has said.
@Billingsgate YOU DONT NEED US, YOU NEED A LAWYER -
I had a similar situation. I renewed my license. Got inspected and it showed on the DOTs computer that it was expired. I had the RECEIPT with me even. Wrote the ticket and told me to talk to the court clerk, which I did. He said it still shows as expired and told me to go to the testing station in Eagan (MN). I went up there and went through the story with them. They asked where I had gotten it renewed and I told them at the license bureau in Apple Valley (MN). 5 agents, IN HARMONY said, and I quote "NEVER GO TO APPLE VALLEY". Apparently in Mn non-testing center license bureaus are franchises and not actually run by the state. They corrected the problem, I went back to the clerk and showed him, and all was good.
Now, I suspect that since the insurance co denied the claim, he did NOT in fact actually have a valid license and/or medical card as he claims or this wouldnt be an issue. He might have to jump through some hoops, but in the end he had a valid license and it would work out, if nothing else via a lawyer...
And if his situation would have happened to ME, the FIRST call I would have made would be to a lawyer, not coming HERE.Last edited: Dec 1, 2023
