I totally understand that! I can attest to companies that have less than stellar equipment too, as well as cheap owners. I am not really a fan of a company routing drivers or giving assigned fuel stops, but if I audible it, I don't want it to be a big deal either. We have both of those instances. The fuel stops are purely wherever they get the largest discount on the route. Sometimes it could be barely any miles after I previously fueled! I do like a little autonomy out here so that's important as well. You bring up a good point about flexibility though. The drop and hook cuts out so much of that downtime, and also having to fight to get accessory pay. A high percentage of drop and hook freight would appeal to me too but only the largest outfits could offer that, as they can drop trailers pretty much all over the country.

Update #2: Had a trailer airbag blow on me near Sulphur Springs, TX. Not a company issue, obviously, but not the best way to start a new journey lol. Oh well, things happen. Made it to East TN and now headed 1320 miles from Kingsport to Laredo, TX for a Sunday delivery. Pre-plan was sent a day in advance and that was that. I do enjoy that it’s a minimal communication kind of place. My only phone calls thus far have been getting approval from maintenance to stop at Speedco

Hopefully things will continue like this

The millage bonus is a scam. I usually stay out for 1.5-2 months. I'm only averaging around 2500 miles a week at 51cent's. I have yet to hit it! They will get you close but then give you short runs. Pick up on Thursday but it doesn't deliver until Monday but technically I could make it there by Sunday.

"Older statements!" Nobody is getting rich over here as a solo driver with no detention pay. Only reason I'm still here is to save for a truck and lease on somewhere. I don't recommend this place!

I'm not understanding why your gross is less than your take home.
Either way, that's some pretty poor pay for being on the road full time.
You can do a lot better

The take home is what I got after the per deim was accounted for. The hours = mileage.
I got into it with my driver manager more than a few times on the phone and think he's screwing me on purpose. I'm leaving soon anyways I just want potential applicants to be careful.

They may very well intentionally try to keep drivers from it. There also may be more to the story than given. Can’t really cast any stones about a company I’ve been at for 5 days or at a driver I know nothing about, so we’ll see how things go for me. Some drivers have great experiences at bad companies and some drivers have bad experiences at good companies. A whole lot of variables that go into each driver’s individual experience. Plenty of other companies that’d probably fit you better if your main goal is saving for a truck and leasing on. As previously mentioned in this thread, Crete, Barr Nunn, LTL companies, etc. are probably going to pay more.

So far I’ve ran 2800 miles in 4.25 days, but we’ll find out if that kind of running continues long term. Can’t really form an opinion on a company I have 5 days with.

Yes sir my intent was not to discourage you. I've currently been here almost 15 month's. (Leaving soon).
I agree that everyone is going to a have a different experience.
I just felt that I needed to post some pay statements and give potential applicants a heads up. Give it 3 months, I looking forward for your personal review.
    Take care.

    BennysPennys and Thrasher28 Thank this.
