Scary knowing there are drivers that are content with running on tires like that. I understand that people aren’t likely to be taking a flashlight and crawling under trailers to check every single crossmember for the slightest crack, but scary knowing people don’t even care about things visible in a simple walk around.

DOT would have a field day if they saw that parked at a rest area. Good way to automatically accept fault if a driver got into a wreck in inclement weather too

Companies that have a prepass in their trucks i think take advantage of that. If they get a green light all the time, then they'll attempt to get away with murder. I've done it myself trying to get to the terminal or a shop. It beats the hell out of calling roadside. Drivers need to do a more detailed pretrip though.

Agree on all counts. In this case, I picked it up in Fort Mill, SC and hoped to get to Wytheville, VA. But since our Charlotte op center is right on 77/85 along the way, guess where I ended up spending the night? (Oh, the trailer ended up with two tires and brakes on one wheel!),

@Chinatown Not jumping ship yet, but I do like to keep options in case things do keep going poorly. Just looking for companies to look further into

do you have any recommendations for hiring out of the Bowling Green, KY area? Prefer medium sized companies. I don’t care if I’m ‘just a number’. Pretty much given up hope for companies that run true coast to coast freight, but am okay with companies that have a 48-state freight network, even if it means lower length of haul on average. Looking for 58cpm with accessorial, but prefer 60+. Willing to stay out 6+ weeks. Don’t care about insurance since I’m on a plan with the spouse’s employer. Prefer manual trucks but I know that’s almost a thing of the past in today’s industry.

Two moving violations that got fought in court and dropped. They still show on my PSP with an annotation that says ‘state verdict was different’ or something along those lines, so I’m not sure how that plays out, but clean MVR. No accidents. 2 years OTR experience and a year and a half local.

Can’t do driver facing cameras, but governed speed, outward facing cameras, etc. don’t matter to me. Prefer a company that runs hard. I don’t mind overnights, early mornings, schedule flipping, or whatever is needed.

I think that in a recession economy , we need to modify our expectations quite a bit .
Freight is slow for almost everyone
Companies are running trucks longer so there will be more breakdowns
When you do breakdown , parts are going to take a while
There has never been a better time to dance with the one what brung ya
Any chance you would go back to your old company?

Just curious what other options are out there if it doesn’t improve. Could easily be bad luck for the last month or this could just be the normal experience here. Considering this load out of Dallas got cancelled for the day due to shipper’s quality department recalling the product, I’m running out of hope pretty quickly. 2500 miles a week is fine when there’s reasonable accessorial pay. Not fine at 50cpm with breakdowns every other day that are essentially making my days 15+ hours.
