They want to check the evaporator and condenser as well. If these are flushable that won't be an issue; if they're not I was told those may need to be replaced as well. I was thinking have them do the compressor and dryer, charge it up, if it runs fine I'm good, if not Then I guess you would have to move on to those other components. It didn't give me any warning signs and that has me PO'd. I listen to my truck and keep a close eye on things to avoid stuff like this. It has been working fine until the day it happened.

I have zero skills when it comes to working on things. I can tell when something is going wrong and can pinpoint issues but that is it. I usually just make matters worse by touching it.

I'd suggest trying to get over that fear and start doing some of the small easy stuff yourself.
The ac compressor is a perfect example of the money you can save. A couple years ago mine went out. I bought a new compressor and dryern did everything myself. Total cost was about 400 including the freon to charge it. A week or so later a buddy of mine with basically the same truck hag his compressor go out. He took it to the dealer. Talked him into changing that expansion valve, broke both lines off it. broke both lines on the dryer, flushed the evaporator and condensor(something else that is not really needed) environmental fees. Shop supplies fees. Marked up parts and freon. 2750 bucks by the time it was over.

Even if you do mess up a bit and break the lines at the dryer and have to replace them, you come out ahead. And eventually you pick up enough experience that you learn a few tricks(in this case liberal use of liquid wrench and slowly working the fittings back and forth to clean the threads as you unscrew them) That you save even more money.

Dodged a bullet. The compressor did fail but it was the clutch that caused it and not internal. No metals in the system. I had a leaking output seal on the transmission and had them do that while it was in there. Total price was $980 and some change.

Trailer financing has been completed and I'll have all my insurance active by Wednesday to finish the purchase. I'll also be able to get my plates, KYU, and NYHUT once I have the insurance certificates. I have to send FMCSA an email, I already have an open ticket in it, with proof of insurance to get the MC number turned on. And finally, once the MC is on, I'll be able to finish up with the factoring company. Almost done so when I go in during the first week of May I just have to get all the junk from my mailbox, pickup the trailer, and I'll be ready to roll. I cleaned out my inbox the other day and deleted 75 emails, it has been busy getting this all squared away.

I became a NASTC member and they partner with Orange Capital. Their rate is better than several others I checked out. The fee is 2.5% for NASTC members.

OK. Just watch your back with these factoring companies. I've been researching them too, and from what I'm hearing and seeing, it's somewhat of a slimy business. Be careful.

Got the IFTA back at 7.55 mpg for the quarter. I was a little disappointed with that but I was expecting it to be lower. They have had me pounding Texas a lot for a while now. Lots of traffic and it's always north to South, TX to upper Midwest and back. The rates have been higher lately and I've been bringing in lots of revenue so that makes up for it. All miles last month was a 1.52 per mile.

Delivered my last load and wrapping things up this week to go out on my own numbers. The dealer made a mistake with the title so that may throw my plates off. I'll be down there tomorrow to fix the issue. I am wanting to hit the road Monday with my first load. Have some maintenance stuff to due in the meantime and get my logo on the truck. I have been pulling for a company called Fortune Transportation out of Windom, MN and they have done a great job.
