I was over the road for 10 years and had to have L4 L5 surgery. The doctor said at that time, I wouldn't be able to go back on the road. That was in 2000. Now, it is 19 years later, and I am 54 years old. I have been working in office environments for those years but now that I have been laid off, not a lot of people want to hire an older person so I'm considering getting back in the saddle again. I really don't want to go through what I went through back then, but it seems I need to get my house paid off, and I'm not getting any younger.

I had two back micro diseconomies for l4 and l5. I used to do flatbed work and now do food service. I lost weight and got into better shape. Made a big difference for me.

Agreed - weightloss removes pressure on discs

I have bulging disc c3 thru 7 with nerve impingement since 2007. My arms go numb while driving. Pain becomes intolerable. I additionally have 3 in my lower back causing severe pain and immobility for 4 years now. I haul flatbed. Sometimes I barely get in and out of truck. I have no choice but to drive at age 57. SSI disability is a joke. It’s mostly for those who don’t really need it‍♂️. Keep on trucking.

Weight gain is an issue if you refuse to watch what you eat and don’t get some sort of exercise.

I just got done with my 4th neck surgery out of 4 I’ve had 3 multilevel cervical fusions. 2019 c5-c7 ACDF plate and screws. . IN 2020 posterior ,5c6c7 laminectomy rods and screws. This year 7 weeks ago I had another ACDF this time they removed plates and screws from c5-c7. Removed disc from c3c4 c4c5 and replaced plate and screws from c3-c7 it’s been a up hill climb bud. And all I’ve done since 97 is drive a truck and now I’m being told he wants me ouf of the truck. I’m torn.
