It's pretty much the modern-day equivalent of the president hr2510 from what I've noticed. Am modulation is much better with this radio than it was with the HR 2510. Mark says he likes it better than the HR 2510

Once you start using the 98vhp the cobra 29lx and all other radios you have ever used will be a distant memory, and it will be a sad day ( hopefully will never come) if for what ever reason you have to put 29lx back in action, will be like going from lexus to a chrysler, scan or no scan.

I have an Astatic 636 that I bought just over a month ago. I'll see how that works out. I tend to hold the mic up to my mouth though and I can hear air pops and esses on it through my talkback.

If you come by one try the Ranger sra 198 it actually comes as stock mic with General lee and Mirage 36. My Galaxy 99v2 has pretty good modulation and that mic works really good with it. I believe volvo stated on another thread that you can get one for under 30 bucks online, just a suggestion.

It has a port of PC programming but no software for the time being. The audio from the internal speaker is reported as being low. Less power than the Strker and less frequency range, with only one person in the country working on the device. I'm not sure what's the deal with the vfo, but the video review of the stryker shows once switched into vfo mode, you can dial from 24-30hz straight through. If you don't mean that, I'm curious to what you do mean.

I like the idea of getting a bargain, but I don't want a halfassed device from China I have to wait a month to get, that no one works on.

    Bell's has the 955 for $319 unmolested.

VFO is the big knob that changes frequencies without having to rely on a stupid band selector switch

And the Stryker does have this feature.
All I have to do is flip the switch marked band/vfo to vfo and it bypasses the band section and you have the entire band range by either using scan or by turning the knob.

    darthanubis and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
