Belly, choke or gut wrap

    You could just hook two ends together if you don’t have any without hooks.

    One of my first ever solo loads. Oversecured to 150% but it has two choke straps on it :)

    Two straps, two winches on opposing sides.

    Hook the ends of the straps together, place the hooks in the middle of trailer, unroll straps to the ground on either side.

    Get loaded.

    Throw straps. Make sure the strap isn’t twisted. I normally throw my driver side strap to the “front” and keep the passenger one towards the rear. Profit.

    I call it a Bowtie wrap as the strap ends are underneath the load. Strap ends over the top would be a Butterfly wrap.

    I would secure the the short sections as if the long bundles on the top wasn't there. Then 2-3 butterflys on the top pieces to "unitize" them as one piece. Then secured the top bundles according to regs for length +1, not counting the wraps as securement.

    Just a differn't way to skin the cat, maybe overkill.

    In picture 1 post 1 I see 3 glaring mistakes just on the blue strap. They may be or not DOT problems.
    On post no 2 I also see at least 3 potential problems but may be the angle.

    It's the difference between going over the top of the load once or twice. If you go over the top twice, your strap might not be long enough. The point of that strap isn't necessarily to provide downforce, but rather to keep it all bundled tightly together.

    I understand that to most, the point of that strap is to keep the bundle tight... and I also understand that if the bundle is large enough, you may have a strap length issue.

    If you take a single pipe, and have it strapped with as many straps as required, with all straps x'ing on the bottom, it takes no force to roll it from side to side on the trailer. If the straps x'ing is on the top, it becomes impossible to roll. The same is true with a bundle to some degree.

    My preference would be to have the straps x'ing on the top, as it will add down force as well as making it impossible to roll. Obviously not possible if straps are too short to do it.

    The strap is on an angle The chain is on an angle and when you are bouncing down the road the trailer flexes both will loosen up. The chain is hooked into the pocket incorrectly all the stress is on 1 link and the weld on 1 side of the pocket is all that is holding the ''load''
    On the other 1 [post 2] the straps seem to be touching on the edges and the wind will chaffe the edges. Also straps touching the wood.
