Greetings, and welcome to my first post! I'm Fred, pleased to meet you.

I have been reading posts on this site for some time, and have always found them useful. Reading about resetting a Bendix ABS ECU led me to register, because I need some additional help that other posts didn't go in to.

I have a 2006 International 9400i with a Cat C-13 ACERT and an Eaton 10spd Ultrashift. I have a nearly constantly illuminated ABS and Traction system MILs. Sometimes they will go off, or just the ABS will be off for a while, sometimes they are on when ignition is first turned on, sometimes they come on later. The dash display tells me that faults for the ABS system range from 3 to 14 faults, but I haven't written them down as I know that Internationl's display does not give enough information to diagnise a problem. The same dash panel indicates faults with systems not even installed on the truck, so I'll chalk it up as useless.

I searched around and located the ECU behind the left half panel behind the pedals. It is above the pedal area mounted very loosly and at an angle using one bolt on the firewall. It can flop around quite easilly, so vibration induced electrical failures immediatly came to mind (loose connectors, cold solder joints, etc). I noted evidence of possible water seepage on the floor area behind the panel that may have come from the body pass through connectors. THe ABS ECU is high and dry, and I have already opened, cleaned, and lubed the black twist-lock connector with dielectric grease. It showed no evidence of wate intrusion or contamination.

I was hoping to find a black plastic box with LEDs and a magnetic reset switch so I could do a reset/self reconfiguaration, but this is a longer metal box with multiple wiring connectors on the bottom; all 5 other sides feel like they are smooth. It looks like an EC-60; I found a picture of that on the internet. I cannot tell for sure, as many stiff wiring harness and hoses are blocking my view of it. I do not have a remote diagnosic/reset assembly. It does have a switch to blink fault codes.

I did get some flash codes, and they are as follows if I counted correctly; 11,3 11,2 11,10 12,1 11,6. All of these center around the J1939 communications link, so I am leaning towards a faulty ECU or faulty wiring. I am aware that some on board electronics interfere with this serial link; this has Qualcomm MCP200 installed, and I've not heard of it inducing any problems into the system.

So..... 13ft6 bonfire, or do we have the technology?

    Thanks,

    Fred

Howdy, Heavyd, and thanks for the reply.

As a matter of fact the transmission has trouble codes displayed on the instrument cluster, so it may be that harness. The transmission sometimes bangs into gear when it is coasting after downshifting and input from the accelerator pedal is given, and it seems to not enjoy upshifting when going downhill. I've not owned the truck but for a few weeks, so I do not know what is normal and what isn't, so perhaps this is normal behaviour for these machines, or not.

That is the same manual I found online. Once I get the dash back together (I was bypassing the air switch to allow me to use my utility lights any time I saw fit, and replacing dash lights as well), I'll run a reset on it and see what it comes up with. Thanks!
