My truck uses this bendix air dryer and it seems a lot of the times air is leaking out of the bottom which I believe is the purge valves. Figured I'd just replace it but I'm not really finding a detailed document showing how to do it. I also noticed they seem to have two different purge valves, an old style and a new style plus a rebuild kit. Is it worth rebuilding or just put a new one in there? Any help on the disassembly would be appreciated. I'm sure it's not tuff just figured I'd ask for pointers before I order the part and change it out. Thanks

What truck and air compressor do you have?

There should be a little pamphlet included in the box with the part. As far as rebuilding or replacing, we just replace it and be done with it.

International 8600 with a cummins ism. Do all the purge valves come with instructions or just the bendix? Was looking at some non oem ones on ebay and not sure it they have instructions.

If that's a Wabco compressor might want to check it. Be sure it's not still pumping air after the dryer pops off. We use reman dryers. Decided the one problem in a hundred was not worth rebuilding them.

How do I check the compressor to see if it's still pumping? I'll look at it today as I have the truck in the shop to see what brand it is. Found a reman Bendix ad-ip on ebay for $150 shipped. Might be worth just swapping the whole unit out if it's not that big of a job. Seems like there's a couple of different purge valves used so I run into the problem of maybe getting the wrong part if I just swap out the purge valve.

If you go by the Model Number of your Air Dryer there should be no problem in getting the right Purge Valve or Turbo Cut-Off Valve.

The replacement of the Valve on a Wabco is easy, remove Snap Ring, remove O-RING and Valve Parts, use the Grease in the Kit and Reinstall.

I had a leaking Turbo Cut-Off Valve on my Wabco Air Dryer about 4 Years ago, replaced the Valve and never had a problem again.

The replacement on a Bendix should be similar.

The Kit is usually about $55.00, might find it cheaper on eBay or Amazon.

Not much to it, even a Gecko can do it.

Have you changed the filter? May be as simple as that.

Filter is new. Looks like the turbo cut off is part of the purge valve in the diagram.

Be careful with the AD-IP's, use name brand cartridges. Cheap ones are notorious for coming apart and that desiccant goes through the air system. Air coming out the bottom could be the purge valve, but it could also be the check valve as well and a few other things.

Here's a link to the service data sheet, which is available on the Bendix website as well. It has a toruble shooting section to help you find your issue.
Sorry, I didn't realize that the 1st link required a username/password, here's one to Bendix, just use the drop downs to narrow it down and find the AD-IP Service Data sheet.
