I had had a driver in a truck who held just enough pressure on the clutch to keep the jake off during shifting and I didn't replace his clutch. I'm ASE certified there's a lot of things you can get away with without hurting the truck but you gotta know his to do it. I drove a truck from Cleveland all the way to Henderson with the clutch out.

Doesn't really make a difference to me. I only ever do it when the engine's off.

If he's just tapping in the free play range, it's not engaging the clutch. I think he was referring to people who press it down to the point where it begins to disengage.

theres a big difference between riding it for shifting and riding it all day, but

depends on the truck, depends on the sensitivity...depends on if its adjusted right. On my fl columbia, if clutch is in enough to disable jake you feel it slipping..
