This part does. There are a half dozen different style rings and they all don’t interchange. The 22’’ Alcoa’s in the pic use the Firestone 2 piece lock ring setup. I have one of the 6 that has a 1 piece Goodyear ring. It works but it would be considered mismatched. It is on the inside rear were you can’t see it. 69 year old wheels are hard to find matching rings for. Lol!
People used to weld those rings if they cracked them and they tried to re bend them back into shape but they will not hold properly. Hence the need for the regs.

Well yes, that's why I said it was unlikely an oos defect. But it still is a violation.

    Agreed.
The part I like the most is a wheel disc crack is “ok” as long as it’s not longer than 3 inches and not between any of the holes. Lol! Good times.
That kind of stuff just tells you that you’ve got to be more concerned about a torn piece of reflective tape missing than a cracked wheel. Lol!

    gentleroger and ZVar Thank this.

Just to be clear. Yes, I am being VERY cynical. In the real-world, an OOS is what that DOT cop decides it is. You can fight this later in court, but when that inspection report hits the feds regardless of what the courts determine these things can become very sticky. As I said before generally speaking I would run it. I would NOT run it into that dang CVSA June thing or in some states where the DOT can be real "Richards". I would, however, attempt to get it fixed if I could!
