Well, for me, crappy is defined as short miles ( or just about anywhere in Philly lol ). Just do them. Don't complain. It's your job and everyone gets theirs once in awhile. Or sometimes a few back to back if you're in a bad area just to get into a better freight lane.
I did one once with only 13 paid miles on it. Didn't complain about it, just did it. What they didn't tell all the guys before me that turned it down ( or me till I got it there ) was the reward for doing that 13 miler was a preloaded trailer at the same place going out with 1183 miles on it. Drop and hook and roll.
Started the week one time with one that only had 48 paid miles on it. Just did it. Ended that week with just over 3000 and home Friday night.
Moral to the story is do your job, make your dispatcher look good and in most cases they make you look good. Don't let yourself be taken advantage of to be sure, and don't be afraid to say no when it needs to be said......but you're being paid to run loads, not necessarily decide which ones you want to run. When it's your turn to take one for the team, then it's your turn.
My dispatcher always backs up a crappy one with a reward. Because I don't whine about it, I take care of business.
