    Hi guys,

What would be considered the best power plant for the Prostar. Is the ISX any good? I'm well versed in the Maxxforce as we currently own one and it's running after several thousands of dollars we've invested in it.

What engine would you suggest that isn't in a Prostar?

    HeavyD:

What is the life expectancy of EGR coolers in the Maxxforce? And what is the life expectancy in miles for the Maxxforce?

Are you buying a new truck and if you are, what options are they offering.Cat to me is the best but definitely the most expensive.DD is midrange, very reliable if maintained properly.Cummins is the cheapest although the X15 is very sought after. Can't help you much with the emissions side of things everything I've worked on has been predef. There's plenty of information available and if you contact each manufacturer I'm sure they'd send you all the information you need, good luck.

Detroit. I'd run nothing but a Detroit these days. Million mile motors.

I have seen egr coolers last as little as 150k km or as long as 600k km, but typically about 300k km. The engine itself isn't bad. Most customers get rid of them because emissions components that keep failing. I would never buy one with more than 800k km.
