if one 'company' can be as small as one truck and one employee with their own numbers, wouldn't there be as many or even more 'companies' with carrier numbers? that's A LOT. millions of 'companies' i bet you could pull freight for. i bet there are some cartel taco stand dudes on craigslist that you could pull some loads from Brownsville for crazy bank. tax free!
1. where do u want to work
2. what do you want to pull
3. what do you need to be leased for (truck, trailer, insurance, dispatching, permits, payroll)
4. what companies are in your area of operation that do that
5. eliminate the 80% that are absolute garbage
6. pick your top 5 out of the remainder and start the speed dating process
in general i think the bigger they are the less you get to keep, but even with the biggest (Schneider, Landstar) there are still experienced guys that have figured out how to make it work for them and stay there. also the bigger they are i think they would have tighter requirements about equipment. (year age minimum, mandatory radard system, weight, etc.) mom and pop probably won't gaf the condition of your truck as long as you deliver their loads on time.86scotty and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
