Best and worst companies

Why should you have gotten paid .30 to .35 cpm you had little to no experience....

I got my cdl in 2009.. I first drove for an O/O then a small family company... I have been with Werner for 10 months and just got my first pay increase.. no accidents, no incidents, no violations, no late loads..

One thing I now know... is that my first year I didnt run as effeciently as I do now... not just in my trip planning but in my time management and certainly with my equipment....

The problem when we are new drivers with less than a couple years in the seat is that we don't know what we dont know and we don't realize that we really aren't as good as we think we are...

 

Sure any job is better then no job but using your brain is better than not using your brain in deciding WHERE to work.

 

When I got out of CDL school last year Werner offered me OTR at .26 CPM and after one year goes to .32 CPM

Would you call that ... "good money"?

After 7 months experience at a bad company I left and came to Crete, I'm on pace to earn over 50K.

Unless anybody can earn at least 45K spending most their life in a truck.... I just don't think it's worth it.
If I sleep in a truck the pay better be worth it.

 

You cant just look at the cpm.. with werner the safety bouns adds upto .06cmp then there are different account specific bonuses and accessory pay that is a good part of a drivers check... I always get my safety bonus which adds an average of $300 a week to my check, then my on time delivery bonus adds another $250 a week to my check, then there is the stop pay which is another $150 to $250 a week... i average between 2500 to 2700 miles a week... so the .36cmp with all the bonuses and accessory pay adds up...

I also get the sign on bonus. .

 

$300 per week for safety bonus?
How does that work?
On-time delivery adds another $250 a week?
That alone is $550 per week.
Then say 2,600 miles at .26 = $676 per week.
So those alone total $1,226 per week.

So you say you're making over a grand a week at Werner at those rates?
Is that on a dedicated account? Which one, if I may ask?

I'm waiting for BR to come back and explain that pay rate to me, because if she can do it, I can do it and I'm going to go there and do it ...

 

I am not on the otr 48... As I have previously stated I am on a Dedicated account. ..
Werner has hundreds of accounts. . I chose an account where I could make good money.. and yes, i do make consistently over $1000 a week... I run very effeciently and safely. . So that I get all my bonus pay along with my mileage pay..

Solo otr 48 is not the best account to make money on unless you are team.. althougn there are solo otr drivers who are happy and make enough for themselves. ..

For me, I chose a Dedicated regional account.. because that is where the money is... i dont get .26 pm... i get .36cpm loaded or unloaded. ..
