    Nice.
Looks like you have a good install.
And your not using your shield as a
    ground plane.

As for something blocking a signal, from personal experience on a personal vehicle with a roll bar, it does effect the signal.
Before I started driving, in 1988, I ran with a CB club and for fun we would have rabbit chases most weekends. I used a pickup with roll bar and a mag mount antenna.
Usually I would place the antenna on the roll bar for good range, but placed it on the cab in front of the roll bar to turn it into a directional antenna.
I usually found the rabbit first.

Rabbit chases...... that’s an interesting name to call it. I’ve always been in clubs that referred it as fox hunting. No matter what you call it, it can be lots of fun.

Yea, we used to call them tea hunts, in Burbank. On my 63 nova I ran a 108 fiberglass whip mounted to the top of the quarter panel next to the trunk lid left side, it was super directional off the right front fender. almost dead off the left rear, actually a a sharp null off the left rear.

Burbank PD prefered us to hold them at night after 9:00pm, and they would for the most part leave us alone. At the safeway behind Burroughs High. Think that was back in like 1973 - 1980 so there abouts.

Invalid question without knowing more details. Base or mobile? What kind of vehicle?
We did the same in Culver City. A favorite spot was a small parking structure above an office building.

Hi drivers I'm done messing with all the miss-matched equipment I run a Stryker 955 (50 watts) with two sra-10 stryker antennas co-phased and have no problem. I think low SWR and good ground is the most important. Pumping out an over-modulated signal (unturned or cheapass radio) with big watts just spews ####. 4 watts clean is better than 50 watts over modulating. spend your money on quality not watts.

Back then my 71 Nova SS ( had 2 nova's) was still new enough just to park it in Community Chevrolet front row and watch everybody fly by . You just have to learn to believe your meter.
