I have stock dual antennas on a cobra 29 classic. 2021 Peter built 389. What would be best cb antenna upgrade that I can pick up at pilot. Right now I can barely talk 200yrds. Would like to reach atleast a mile. 3 miles would be ideal. Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what would be the best antenna at a truck stop. I drove an old 2006 Peterbilt for 10 years, and I used a Hustler FG-27S 48" antenna. It was a tough antenna. Plus it looked good on the truck.

I always wanted to try the Hustler HQ-27S 55" antenna, but I never got around to ordering one. I'm sure it would perform better than the FG27s.

You go thru West Memphis? Stop at Ray's CB Shop across from the McDonald's where all the truck stops are, and get you a SkipShooter.

Everybody STOP for a second. Do not buy anything right now.
.First, have that radio checked for output power by a shop. At the very least, install your radio in a truck with a known good radio setup. Does different truck solve range issue?
    .
.Next check the swr on your truck with an external meter and not the meter in a radio. If the reading is 3.0 or higher your truck has an antenna ground plane problem. Tuning or replacing antennas will not fix an antenna ground plane problem.
.We all wait for your results.

You might as well add, you can have a perfect SWR with the factory coax set up and if it runs through a multiplexer, splitter, etc, you may not be getting a 1/2 a watt to the antenna. It which case no antenna will improve anything. A good way to know this is if your SWR is good but you lose contact with the other guy before he is out of sight. All the Cascadias I drove before retirement (2017) were like this with the factory setup. I suspect most new trucks are the same now days.

I'm running the Hustler HQ 27 on my 2024 389. Antenna is on back of sleeper (78" High Rise). Highest SWR is 1:4.
