OK first off. You do know how expensive it is in Cali right? I live in Irvine CA the median price for a ho e here in right around 800k. Living anywhere near the water is going g to be even more expensive. Do you live in Cali now or are thi king of moving here? When I first came to Cali rented an apartment in Monterey Park not too far from Montebello. The rent was 2600 a month for a 2 bedroom unit.

I want to be able to get up in the mornings and walk and look at the ocean. I know it will be costly. I’m trying to get on with a terminal in Oxnard, as it’s not right in the thick of L.A. I won’t really know until I can get out there and see it all. I am aware of the traffic during the summer, which is why hopefully I can get a place with a parking spot. I have been told to avoid areas near the piers because that is where the homeless set up camps, but I am under the impression that is everywhere. Maybe I can find a decent spot and won’t get harassed by panhandlers all the time.

There’s a larger homeless camp in Chattanooga where I live than in Atlanta. I’m sure San Francisco is worse than L.A.

yes, my rent will triple. I will budget accordingly. If it turns out to be a terrible decision I can always come back. But I really hope it will work out. Everything I like is out there.

Son, you are a natural......pack that U-haul soon and get on the Highway. BTW if you take I-10 west, it will be easy travelling, since I-10 ends at the Santa Monica pier and the Pacific Ocean.

All I am bringing is my record collection, a turntable and a few clothes, just what will fit in my car. I hope the roads in Louisiana are better in case I hit a nasty pothole with 800 lbs of records in my backseat. Thanks for the encouragement :)

I-10 is ok, sometimes a little bumpy through Louisiana, but otherwise ok.
I lost count how many times I've run it in a truck from Florida to California.

Interstate 10 (I-10) is a transcontinental Interstate Highway in the United States, stretching from Santa Monica, California, on the Pacific Ocean, to Jacksonville, Florida.

Be careful with all that valuable stuff in your car. Make sure you have some type of tracking device for your car and the luggage.
One man and his wife retired from Nashville, TN and drove a U-Haul truck towing his car to Las Vegas to their new home.
Stayed in a motel with plan to unload at the home the following morning. Had an antique guitar collection in the truck with personal papers and other things. Next morning the truck, along with the car it was towing, was gone. Never to be seen again.
