I have not stopped at the Tennessean in years. I figured that Pilot would have bought them out by now. It seems they are buying every independent they can.

Well if you recommend Sonnys as good, thanks for the warning to stay away from the Tennessean.

Few years back, used to be able to call in your order over the C.B.....and some girls would deliver to your truck.

Little stuck on yourself, and your southern status ain't you? There's pleanty of decent BBQ country wide. Maybe it's just your attitude over-riding your taste buds.

Some of the best BBQ I had on the road, was off Hwy. 71 in Y City, AR. Little "fuel stop" is THE ONLY thing around, so you can't miss it (if it's still there), and the BBQ joint (don't recall the name), is right next door. Good stuff, and lots of it, for little money.

This is the truth. I have been surprised and gotten some great BBQ in the weirdest places. Including Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm from TX and love our food, but there are plenty of guys out there who can put a good scald on a piece of meat.

I have always heard about Soulmans and stopped in recently at the Royce City location. Got plenty of food unlike most BBQ joints but I wasnt impressed with the food at all. One thing that sticks in my mind was the sauce. It was just brown water!

Another one that I see mentioned here is North Little Rock. I stayed at Petro one night and heard the guy on the CB. I walked over and bought a sandwich. Horrible! Will never make that mistake again!

Maybe I am just a BBQ snob as smoking brisket, ribs, etc is a hobby of mine, but I havent found any BBQ worth eating while on the road. I finally gave up and quit trying.
