    Actually if I remember correctly if you pop the top they all come with RCI boards made by Ranger...(We receive calls regarding other radios including the Galaxy, Galaxy DX, RG-XX line, General, and Connex for parts and service. To help unravel any confusion: yes, Ranger manufactures the radios for these companies, but under a strict private label agreement, often times at a different factory.)

    RCI is the mother company just as General Motors (err Government Motors that is). My point being of all the products under the RCI umbrella Galaxy is the flagship.

    Hello,
    I have an old RCI 2970, I am not having any luck with the alignment of the PLL, I do the alignment but when I am done, the radio transmits and receives on 23 mhz and not on 27 mhz, the digital readout says 27 mhz but that is not the correct frequency, I have changed the CPU and the display boards but it is still the same. can you help with troubleshooting this radio, I sure could use some help. Thanks for reading this post,73 for now.

    Hi Mad dog,
    I will have to check that, I have a feeling that the problem is in the VCO ic chips. I guess that I can change them out and see if that helps. I was avoiding that because the area that these chip are located are buried in wax, that could be a problem with removal and re soldering the new ones :( Thanks for responding. I think I could use a crash course in that area. 73 for now.

    You can ask 100 drivers this question and get 99 different answers, Lots of radios can be a good radio, just depends what your looking for?, For me I would say to myself?, what Am I really going to do?,Will I actually use SSB?, If your answer is NO, then why spend the money, you can get a nice powerful radio with out that stuff fairly inexspenccive, shop around and do some research, Ive seen guys spend thousands of dollars for set ups, just to talk on channel 19, My question is, WHY?, use some common sence and good luck

    "6 large" ???? do you mean $6,000? Or is $600 considered 6 large? Either one is just as bad. If you think any CB radio could be worth even $600, when all you do is talk 3 or 4 miles around you, then you really have to get your priorities straight. I could spend $80 on a radio, and use it for all I need, if it is set up properly. The rest of the money would be spent where it should be....on my family

    Typical Billy Big Rigger advice on how to waste money.;
