If Yellow accepts you, they'll pay for transportation to get to the school and to return to Florida.

@Wasted Thyme can give information on Stevens Transport. He's relatively new there.

FFE/KLLM are sister companies. Living in Fl they will send you to either Miss or Indiana for training under KLLM, but you can decide what company to drive for after you finish your CDL but before you go our OTR with your trainer.

I don't know a whole lot about KLLM. They do have local, regional, rail, & otr. @Lostmykey drives for KLLM. He can fill you in on them.

FFE basically has four divisions local, regional, linehaul (otr), plasma

Local is paid by the hour & home daily.

Regional is paid CPM plus DROPS home a couple of nights a week

Linehaul is our OTR paid CPM ($0.50 as a newbie). Mostly terminal to terminal drop & hook. Occasionally will pickup/deliver to customer. Loads usually go out Thur - Sun. Will be ask to help out the terminal you are at while waiting for your load. Do it! Pays well & shows you are a team player.

Plasma- @TravR1 works this or did. It is all states OTR team. Pays very well. Have to try out for it.

FFE is no force dispatch to NYC. If you go to their school you will owe them a yr employment. If you don't make it a yr, they prorate your balance.

I haven't had a problem with them at all. They have always got home me home when requested. My 1st yr when pay was $0.40 a mile I made close to 60k a yr as a solo driver.

If you have any other questions, I will try to answer them for you. Good luck

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I already talked with Stevens and they said I would be going to Canada and Mexico

I think that's a bit much for a new driver to take on, and I don't have passports which makes getting started even more difficult

Not looking for reasons to turn down an opportunity but jeeze seems like sending a new guy to ice and snow in Canada would be a risky decision lol

    just saying

Some companies advertise Mexico, but only drop & hook at the border.
Which is it for Stevens Transport?

Don't overthink this. No company will send a new driver right out of school into a blizzard. You'll be with a trainer to teach you the ropes first.
Don't let other drivers frighten you about this new career. They're still doing it, so can you.

Happy drivers rarely post on company reviews. Some of those are drivers that are leasing the truck they drive. Why would someone lease a company truck and pay for the fuel and repairs, etc.? Doesn't make sense. Many complaining drivers are also job hoppers and are never happy or content.
Some advice; don't hang around in the drivers break room or the TV lounge in truck stops.
Those are just gossip clubs and full of negativity.
