i posted a thread a few minutes ago asking whether or not I should wait out my driving record and had some responses that said not to rule myself out yet.. I guess I'm just wondering what companies would be good to contact about getting hired out of truck school with a less than perfect driving history... will companies pre hire me before going through school so I don't waste my money?

Pre-hire doesn't mean hired....so I would make sure before dropping the money on school. School doesn't care if you get hired since they already got from you what they need...money. You gotta get on the phone and start calling companies.

"questionable" is not a very good term to go on to provide any meaningful input. One guy's definition of "questionable" might cause a carriers hiring department to laugh themselves silly at the prospect of hiring said driver with "questionable" record.

i.e there are many degrees of "questionable".

it all really depends on what you mean by questionable like if you have very recent DUI's I'd say wait those out or if you have more than 3 speeding tickets I'd say wait that is well there are companies that will hire drivers with less than stellar Records as long as they're not to resent

Go through a company school as opposed to an outside school.

Don't know where that thread is so i'll ask, what exactly is on your driving record that's questionable?Companies may prehire you but like a member that, that does not mean you are hired. They may not even look up anything till you get to orientation. So I would suggest telling recruiters whats on your record ask recruiter if she looks everything up or is that done during the orientation process.

Obviously you posted this newer thread because most of the feedback, like mine, was what you didn't want to hear.
On that "other" thread, I was overly generous to you in saying to wait at least 3 years to show that you can drive safely.
In fact, just in your post I missed seeing the accident on there. I'm curious to know the details on that.

Just the fact that you choose not to reveal your past 3 years record on this thread, let alone your "awful driving record" (your own words) for all the years prior to 2009, tells me that even YOU know you should not be hired or driving an 80,000 lb vehicle. You had listed 2009 as being the only year you drove "violation/incident free".

You said in the past 3 1/2 years (since 2010) that you:
    1. Had failure to display valid inspection
    2. Operating unregistered
    3. Speeding (60 in a 45)
    4. One accident
    5. Two seat belt violations
    6. Plus.... (This doesn't count the "more awful" pre-2009 years)

Personally, I given this further thought, and I would not want you driving anywhere on the same road as me.
It is not the severity of the violations, or lack of, but it's the full picture you have painted, as a safety conscious driver.
I would love to know your complete driving record for those pre-2009 awful years.
I amend my other post to now say wait at least 10 years. Maybe longer. I really don't think you are safe driving material.
