That 90% sounds nice, dunno if you can do much better than that anywhere else.
Come with your own trailer though lol.

90% of $2.00 a mile or 70% of $3.00 a mile: what do you pick? High % isn't the end all be all

TNT is renting them for $2k a month, so $350 a week is a deal! You should rent yours out, you'll make a killing!

^ as a guy that runs his own authority: that sounds great. I'll give you a real life example of how things are just for the laughs.

i cold called a place about a mile and a half from my house. They don't have loads every day. Maybe 6-7 loads a month worthy of having a trailer come in. They use mercer for some (that's another thread) and have another independent that hauls for them. They now use me for 90% of their outbound. One day when I came to pickup my dropped trailer the other independent was there loading, headed in the opposite direction. He runs junk; smashed in fuel tanks, filthy, lights don't work, bad tires all around, the list goes on. I make convo with him because I'm a conversational guy and curious what his business line is....because it sure isn't mine.

we get to talking rates and he proudly tells me how he's getting $650 for this load, and thank god no "rate cutters" got under him on this one...looking at me because now I'm doing most of their work. I said that's interesting, 2 days ago I brought the first half of this shipment for $975, and I felt I should have been higher after how much of a pita cluster the jobsite is......and how much extra time it required.

thats who who you dal with a lot of the time. "I have my own authority and make the big bucks" guys have no idea what they should charge. Cut their own throat type of business men.

Sorry if I missed you call or email. Beside being slammed most of the time I had surgery this week and was cramming all my travel in because I am grounded for a while.
