I have never been called to ask me why my truck isn't moving. They seem to give us plenty of time to make appointments. In situations where it will be cutting it close, I have always been asked to evaluate it to see whether I can make it work within the guidelines, and if not, to provide a best guess ETA so that they can reschedule the appointment. Based on some things I have read here and heard elsewhere, there are some starter companies that constantly push you. I have never been made to feel that way by Maverick.
There are drivers who have been here for decades. There are many others that start here and move on. No company is going to be perfect, but I am just trying to convey that my experience with Maverick has been a positive one.
Good luck!rbgtag Thanks this. -
I would like to consider maverick but I believe they only have flatbed on my area and I don't believe I'm fit enough for flatbed.

I have an app with freymiller and also with Magnum. At this point I'm leaning toward Magnum.

As far as flatbed or other types of open deck freight, some people love it and others seem to loathe it. Personally, there are some things about it that I really enjoy, but I tolerate other things that I don't enjoy very much. In my opinion, tarping is like many other things in life: it gets easier the more you do it. When I first started, I quit a hundred times in my head while wrestling with tarps. However, once I developed a system and became more adept, then it was less of an issue. I haul glass, so most of our tarping and untarping must be done indoors. (The glass division does occasionally haul lumber, steel or other general freight but the vast majority of our tarping is indoors.)
"How can I know if I wouldn't mind doing that?" My response to that is this: regardless of what type of freight you may be interested in, find a good company and give it a shot. Stick with it long enough to gauge whether or not you enjoy it. You are much more likely to be frustrated and discouraged the first few times you try something new and challenging, so in my opinion you should stick with it long enough to develop some level of proficiency and then make your decision. Only you will know whether you enjoy it, and regardless of what anyone may tell you about their experience, your experience may vary. If it doesn't work for you, then find something that does. Good luck in your journey!Last edited: Jan 22, 2017

Rbgtag congrats on your career change.
I don't want to throw a blanket on your party. You should concentrate on finding a good company and learn to" master the beast" because she will hurt you.
I'm just saying as a new driver you will have your hands fullrbgtag Thanks this.
