I doubt if they hire illegals. E-Verify can weed out the illegals.

Get in touch with your state's Department of Human Services, or whatever bureau helps folks find jobs. In Michigan it's called MichiganWorks! it may be something similarly named in your state.
They will most likely have info, or may be able to directly sign you up with a CDL school, at no or very little cost to you.

 

Many do. But you'd have to be an employee of that company. Why? Seems a little further down the road than you should be worried about. And I wouldn't choose a company simply because someone who works there referred them.

 

Get started and put dates of unemployment on the applications.
Example:
Worked at Sears from Aug. 2011 - Jul. 2014
Unemployed from Jul. 2014 - Present

I'm sure you will find someone on the Prime and Swift board that would do the same.

You should very much consider a local school especially if it's free to you because you are unemployed.
Having said that, I could pay for my own CDL schooling but went the company sponsored route. But then again most folks say I'm a freakin' nut case anyway....
