unfortunately people are too %&^$& to understand that. on the same note , going DH you are not lowering the rates for others.

I don’t know any reputable companies hiring company drivers with less than 2 years experience…let alone allowing a new driver fresh out of school as an o/o to coke drive under their authority. I had to have 5 years verified 10-99 llc before a bank would even approve a loan for a truck. The industry is too high risk right now. No one is taking chances on new drivers. Your insurance is going to be thru the roof…and I’m guessing you just plan on buying an old used cheap truck because I’m not sure what bank will even consider giving you a loan without outstanding business credit and a huge chunk down.

" smart owner operator" why do you think Florida doesn't pay crap going out?? because people like you! very "smart business people" just like yourself who are willing to haul loads for under 1 dollar per mile.
"smart business man" why do you think brokers don't want to pay a reasonable rate anymore???? because they know there are smart people like you in this business . you should open your own university and teach how to run a business in which you own a 200k plus equipment, 1k insurance monthly and you haul loads for 1 dollar per mile. and the broker makes at least 3-4 dollars per mile off your hard work, with 0.00 dollars investment . or if you lease "smart business move" you make half of what your handlers makes and you are 100% responsible for the load.

You're not very smart. Claiming no wear and year while deadheading is beyond ridiculous and as far as rates go you have no idea what that carrier got paid to go into FL. You also have no idea of what his operating expenses are.

He most likely got a rate that covers him to his next pick so anything he gets on top of that is pure profit. If you were running a real business you'd be profitable and would not be so concerned with trash spot market rates in the first place.

Stop pointing fingers and take good long look in the mirror.

I've bought over 250 new trucks and never found that option that doesn't have any cost but fuel when running empty. Maybe he can give me what that option is.

    Iamoverit Thanks this.

I am 100 % independent O/O. I run if I get pay my rate, period. I did not come into this industry to be some else's biach. no supervisor, no fleet manager, no dispatch. if was going to run under someone else's authority, I would rather flip burgers at MCdonald
I've never claimed "no wear, or no operating cost". Even if you don't move your truck you are paying parking and insurance. I do.
Look, truckers complain about brokers/shippers not wanting to pay a fair rate, correct? why do you think brokers don't want to pay? why rates are cheap dirt ? because there are people who have not idea the damage they are inflicting to this industry when they "back haul" and who do you think benefits from it? brokers, shippers , big companies and corporations. who do you think get affected by it ? you, the driver, the lease operator , the independent O/O, the people who drive the truck.
so, I am not looking out for my personal gains or an instant reward. when I rather go empty somewhere else where I can get pay for what I do , I do it because I have respect to all of you truckers, I take pride in what I do , I understand this business. if we continue hauling back haul for cheap dirt, we will destroy this industry for the next generation. if you guys don't care about it, then I did not say anything.
