This days many owner operators are struggling. One month they net progit as much as an employee would running 12k miles at $. 55per mile. Another month even less then that, and some months little more. The reason why is: it's not the economy its brokers running down the industry packing money in their pockets. Example. A customer pays $2800 for an 800 mile load. Broker first posts that load for 1400, nobody takes it, then they raise the price a little, when shipping appointment time is getting closer they'll start raising the price little by little. And the load is usually taken for 1800. Sometimes they would post the load for 90% of what it pays them and within minutes someone takes the load. People even take $1 per mile loads if they have to get that direction and nothing else is available. They look at it this way: i have to go home or that direction anyways so covering the fuel costs are better then driving empty. That's how brokers make big bucks, and everyone blames it on the economy that economy is bad.

Hello! Has anyone heard or have any info on an outfit named FTS Logisitcs out of Jax, Fl? They have a lease option w no money down, no credit check, the usual. You have a 3 year lease of truck then you own it. you pay 25% to owner for the 3 years and your min gross is $7500 to the above avg $10k gross per week. It works out to a 60/40 split gross weekly with all payments, ect... Drivers are allegedly pocketing 4K-$4500. Per week. Any information or anyone work for them? Thanks

Whatever you do. Don't lease on with BillyBob's Alligator Eatery. Your drivers will disappear. Into thin air. Nobody knows?
JoeyJunk Thanks this.
