Looks like Mister P only hires within 120 miles of Jeffersonville Indiana unfortunately. Plus side, they say they’re home weekly for anyone looking for that. I appreciate all the info!

You'll want a few days out of the truck occasionally; however, that doesn't have to be at "home." It can be anywhere you want.

In 2003 I hired on with Schneider with no experience. They put me through CDL school with a one-year obligation to stay with them. I did, and at the time I didn't have a "home" where I would take my home time. Instead, I'd stay out for about a month at a time then ask for a load to/through someplace that I had family I could stay with for a few days. My dispatcher had no problem doing that.

I did the same with other carriers through the years. I kept what little I owned in storage and just asked for hometime wherever I wanted to take a few days off. It works out nicely for us folks who don't want the hassle of keeping an actual home. My address on my driver's license was my friend's address, and that's where I had my mail sent, but I could've just as easily used a family address. It's nice to have good friends who are cool about letting you do things like that.

Anyways, you're looking for carriers that will take you w/ no experience, so it'll likely have to be one of the megas. There is no "best" company for someone in your shoes; any of them will work for you starting out, and you can live in the truck full-time and tell your dispatcher to route you through an area where you want to take a couple days off. Good luck.

Stevens Transport starts starts a new class every week. Probably send you to school in Denver, Colorado. I think you stay in an "apartment like" hotel while in school there.
    The school address is:
    Careers World Wide
    35 South Main Street
    Keenesburg, CO 80643

I am one that lived in the truck for 11 straight years, stayed on the road for 3 or 4 months and then would take one week off at the hotel near my storage.
Have been out of the road for little over 2 yrs and now trying to go back doing the same thing... But having hard time finding co. that will allow me to take one week off after 3 months on the road.
With no home, it's easier and less tiresome to stay on the road for longer periods of time.. I cook in the truck and have to carry pots, stove, food, this and that to the hotel I check in... and then back into the truck.... All that moving back and forth between truck and hotel takes almost 2 days off of my time off and I definitely need more time left to rest and do what I need during my time off.
My former company would allow me back and would let me take one week off... but they require lifting 50lbs during the "aptitude" test done with DOT physical and I am no longer trying to lift that...
Crete is a good co. they have a terminal in TN and a national OTR division that offers 21 days on the road and 4 days off... that might work for you @Moto357
There's also Covenant in TN. They hire newly graduates and one can live in the truck. But you have to team for the first 4 months...
There's also First Express in Nashville. Their dispatcher and safety director told me they would let me take one week off after 3 months on the road but their application requires driver to say they can lift 80 lbs.... not sure if they hire newly graduates though...
Anyway... good luck with your co. research @Moto357 ... I am sure you will find something that will be a good match...:)

My former co. is 100% no touch and so is First Express... however, they both require driver to lift 50 and 80lbs... :biggrin_1square1:
Averitt is also a great co. with great safety record according to DOT/ FMCSA They have several divisions, dry van, flatbed, refer, intermodal... but they also require driver to lift 80lbs during physical aptitude test.
Must be a matter of insurance litigation, workers comp. or something of that sort...

We can accommodate that, especially if you time it out around the truck's PM time. Bring it to the home terminal, do your thing in a hotel for a week, then move your clothes back into the same truck (you won't lose your truck over a week or two at home here, I'll never understand the reasoning behind those rules as they truly alienate the drivers).

Crete wants you to be able to duck-walk under trailer skirt, even though Crete doesn't use trailer skirts.

That’s what you get for letting the CA fruits and nuts take over. They screw everything up!.

    What company is that?

Maybe I didn't explain myself well in my previous comment... Whenever I took the so called "hometime" at the hotel, I would take only the things that I needed with me, not everything... Nevertheless, that was still tiresome... I used to carry one small burner stove, 3 pots for cooking, boxes with plastic containers, box with seasoning and spices, blender, cooler with food, bags of brown rice, granola, beans, sea salt, gallons of water, paperwork, laptop, miscellaneous, clothes, etc, etc, etc... Would put everything in my car, install myself in the hotel, stop at my storage, grab my printer and a few other things... and then, do everything in reverse when going back into the truck....
I lived in the truck and carried my home in there... Generally, it would take 2 days just to move all my things whenever I had to move to a different truck.
