Sorry about that TxSilverEagle84......Yeah I never stopped driving , just being an O/O.......Been driving since 1990, 100 percent safe miles. Well, truck prices have definitely gone up compared to the 90's for comparison purposes...right now I'm looking at an 07 W900L with a studio sleeper and Apu already installed and ready to go...just waiting on finding a good place to go with it. As far as pulling a trailer, the more money the better...I was thinking of Miller only because you actually earn more while not putting on more miles ( allegedly that is) ......and not a whole lot of physical work. I don't know how much lumpers are getting these days but I can't do the hard work I use to do pulling van or reefers. So the less freight I have to touch the better....I'm sure we all feel that way! I wouldn't mind pulling a step deck, I figure it's a little more versatile as far as freight goes. What it all boils down too is not going in the hole, LOL...been there done that before with a flatbed company pulling my own trailer.....never again, I hope. I really don't care for companies that tell you to hang in there, while they drain every cent you have.......and leave you with bills.
I do appreciate the suggestions, trucking sure isn't what it use to be.......
Best company to work for as an O/O?

I hear that......I will be retaining my own authority in the near future and a trailer...just got to get some money rolling in...costing enough to jump back in it, even with excellent credit.

Hey Craggy1982......I called Miller and have not heard back yet.....I noticed on their website the tractor requirements stated wheelbase 265 or less......What do you think their answer would be on 270"? This truck I found is beautiful but it's 270" and weighs about 18500 dry I think. 07 W900L studio sleeper w/apu........
From what I read, some of the other guys aren't too impressed with the dedicated either. I also read that they have changed the way they dispatch, something about the computer picking loads for them as to average out everyone's miles..is that right or BS? I'm still leaning towards Miller if everything can be worked out, can you do orientation in channelview or do you have to go to the Jackson location?
Yeah, I got plenty of OTR, not recent but it's like riding a bicycle..........to answer everyone's question.....I think there's only a couple of states I haven't been to up in the very top northeast. RI and Maine. Been to Canada 5 times and Mexico a few times.......I'd really prefer to run the lower states if possible.....I enjoyed running to Ca. and back or MD and back and to Florida.....lots of miles and easy running.
Going to check out Farm 2 fleet and Mercer as well.........Never heard of F2F. -
Hey Craggy, tried to IM you but it wouldn't let me until I get more post.......Called and spoke to Chris Clark at the Channelview office just a minute ago. If you would send me your contact info...maybe I can get your IM...Thanks, Vince

There is a lot of deadhead with Miller. I understand there is some deadline, but it's too much and too far (think Cali to TX, Canada to TX...deadhead). That is a lot of money for fuel and time. So the O/O losses money, but Miller still retains their 37% no matter what. This terminal has a habit of dispatching you to X location but doesn't know how much the load pays or even basic information about the load. Or doesn't tell you it's dedicated until after the fact. So what was a good paying load is actually a poor paying load. Dispatching is a problem. They need more training!!! It's been slow, mistakes and more. The trailers always have busted lights or some issue from another. It's a common practice to steal lights from other trailers to get your trailer on speck. Notified Miller. Yupe. Anything done. Nope. So one has to ask themselves, why is Miller getting 37%? Just not worth it in my opinion. Miller was an opportunity to become an O/O, but it's time to move on to better opportunities. With the gross revenue, costs...at the end of the day...the pay does not justify being away from home or working that hard. One would be better off as a company driver...with benefits! I see the potential Miller has but they need to pull it together.

Thanks for the heads up.....I will take this all under consideration and research further.
