Well Hello Neighbor. If you know about Lorraine and St Lukes down the old Crown Gas Station where Parkway starts off Hartford, then you are in my area more or less.

I have not heard the words Putty Hill in so long. That takes me back. I can only imagine the changes by now. They took out the old Trolley Loop on Taylor. That was a VERY useful big rig get around back then. I noticed also in that general region they had installed circles to cut off traffic that used to sneak through without any sort of oversight or supervision in some of the other areas we were in back then.

 

I don't eat donuts anymore after Winchell's chain went out of business, but I will eat other types of pastries like strudel I remember Van de camps had good pastries at one time I tend to lean towards Entenmann's pastries now

 

Kwiktrip,Wisconsin Rapids — buttermilk logs are to die for — or were a few years ago.

 

Cherry fritter from the J when they're fresh. The one in Greentree Lousiana used to have the best ever and then the vender changed brands and they were as tasty. But they would sell out before the guy even got done stocking the case

 

I do like the donuts at the Space Age travel center in Hermiston, Oregon.
Also if your near a Meijer store they have fresh made donuts daily for .75 cents.

I-20 exit 16A (Hearne Ave.). They don't have truck parking, but it's within walking distance of the State Fairgrounds and not too far from the Calumet refinery and the Libbey Glass factory.

Also, any H-E-B grocery store has excellent donuts.
