Perhaps consider a company that also offers lease/purchase options.

Many new O/O use it as a stepping stone before going full blown owership.

Southern Refrigerated, Texarkana, AR hires new drivers w/o Experience and have a terminal in Orlando. Training is 4-6 weeks and then you fly solo. Good for a starter company as they have new equipment and run all 48 states and they let you bring the assigned truck home. Recommend you stay at least 1 yr to get your feet wet and then decide if you want to start your own company.

Abilene Motor Express hires Florida drivers and you'll get lots of miles running to the west coast and pacific northwest. This company would be my first choice. Dry van mostly doing drop & hook.

Florida Beauty Express runs teams to California and back Lots of stops with driver unload. Sometimes leave Miami to California to Northeast and back to Miami then do it again.

I'd still pick Abilene as a first choice.

That's another good choice for a new driver. They do lots of California runs.

Thank you all for your help! I think @Chinatown the most fitting for me to start would be Abeline Motor Express is my #1 choice so far.. they seem like the best paying for new students plus will give a lot of experience for hooking and unhooking. Along with quicker unloading loading which will help with getting miles under my belt.

Drop & Hook requires a complete trailer inspection - each and every time and must be flagged on the daily log and noted as to being safe on the DVIR. Failure to do so could result in an out of service violation. If the trailer was dropped with any DOT Violations, it's your duty to get it fixed or risk driving w/an unsafe vehicle. What they teach you in school is nothing compared to what you will learn on the job....

    Good Luck and Stay Safe!

I have recently gotten my CDL as well. Currently trying to get on with Abilene. They seem to be short on trainers at the moment. But I believe that being patient in this case will be worth it.

I think you're right. Can't find any negative posts about the company.
