While one must inspect each trailer, just as one must do if they pull the same trailer every day, the paperwork has been eliminated except if one actually finds a problem. So I don't see much difference between the two. We do a lot of drop n hook but it's not like we are swapping trailers 12 times a day.

I started at Abilene last August and I really like it... Great equipment and great freight ... A mix of drop n hook and live load/unload and all of it is no touch.

I came here thinking it would be my "starter company" but I am really liking what they have going and will be here longer than originally thought.

Feel free to drop me a PM here if I can be of any assistance in answering questions about Abilene, etc.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

That may be a problem with Abilene.
Best look at Southern Refrigerated Transport because they have in-house cdl school. There may be some small outfits that will hire you without formal training and you'll have to knock on doors in your area to find them.
Here's a few that have their own in-house school. Since you don't plan on being there but a few months anyway,no reason to be very picky. Just get that diploma is the main thing.

@Chinatown what is the diploma for really? I figured with no exp I'll be put on a truck with a trainer 4 to 6 weeks till they see I'm able to handle the truck and road ? I really didn't want to have to go through that schooling program if not absolutely necessary :(

Some trucking companies require a diploma and some insurance companies require a diploma.

Since you already have a cdl, some companies will fast track you through their program.

Thanks, I didn't even think about that.

I can follow up on this with our lead recruiter in the morning.

That is my hope, still prepared to go through a refresher or even the full school program again though.
