So what your saying is even with my giving up 25% or Landstar 27% you as a single truck operator can get the same customers at the same rates living in ..... Oh let's say Florida? Although it's been said many times do you think you net more than a guy leased on

I'm fairly certain your not setting the woods on fire coming out of Florida leased to mercer.Over the years I've known 4 close friends leased to mercer and to answer your question directly yes I know I can do better as a Independant. I pull for a few of the same outfits that mercer pulls for. I feel the industry would be better off with more solid independents than larger outfits like Landstar mercer etc. they're not truck owners and don't bear any of the biggest cost of the transportation process.

I think every trucker would be independent if it was as easy as most make it out to be, if you have regular customers that you can set up a dedicated deal with then independent is 100% the way to go. For someone starting out like myself I see a 25% cut for letting me haul their loads and not having to be a salesman to get the load isn't that bad, that's not all your paying for tho you get other benefits too. the biggest thing for me is knowing that I'm gonna get my money without having to wait forever or without having to run someone down if they decide not to pay.

The money issue can be resolved with a deal with your banker. If you don't have a relationship with a backer I'd strongly advise driving somebody else's truck. If you ask 10 people for advice you're going to get 10 answers. What I'm saying is these company's wanting to lease you on are not what they've cracked up to be and if somebody tells you they are there's usually something in it for them. You right in the middle of a Great area for flatbeds. Look at some good shippers right under your nose before you go make money for some other jack leg. One of the best customers I have is out of the greater Atlanta area

There's always somebody that thinks their way is the only way and the rest of everyone else just needs to quit and drive a company truck. Really you know most people aren't up to the task under either circumstance and the last thing they need is someone encouraging them or giving false hope.

My ways not the only way. Maybe I should have clarified that in the beginning. I didn't fall off the turnip wagon last night if you know what I mean.Im trying to give advice and that's it. You're in a great area to pull a flat bed. Capitalize on it. Or you can always listen to the clowns screaming mercer and landstar. Any company that's willing to hire and train somebody to pull a flatbed I'd be wary of. Leads me to the people are leaving as fast as They're hiring on

Done business with Bennett in the past and they were good with me.

Yep another one keeps talking about the 25 per cent given away, when in fact after paying the costs of insurance and other costs related to authority its much smaller, its actually kind of nuts to recommend the op getting authority in that he has never owned a truck

Im not an owner op. Been looking in to it very hard and have to agree with Rick. If your gonna run and own a truck I wouldn't do a lease purchase. From my research save up as much money sell things if needbe buy the nicest truck you can pay for it and ddon't have the over head. I've personally been looking at 359s very hard. Yeah I know they are old and not what rhw new ones are but I can do ALL my own work. The truck would be paid for and oneless bill... I say do your home work...
