I went through a bunch of yoga mat memory foam / egg crate layering combinations before arriving at this one below. It's just thick enough to not let the hips or elbows rub through the bottom, it's thin enough to let me sit up with the top bunk down, it's light enough topper to not be hot (lots of circulation), and it's durable enough to somehow have not compressed at all in 6 months, even in the middle on the edge, where it gets sat on for hours a day, hasn't compressed at all, as springy as the day it came. I'm 6 foot, 200 lbs and boney.
