I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but which carrier is a good one out of the large companies? Due to a brief, unsuccessful experience with the Pumpkin and lack of a stable work history the last few years, I don't think I would be able to get on with some of the more discriminating large trucking companies. Will I just have to hire on with a company like Werner and bite the bullet until a better job comes along (are they really THAT bad)? From what everyone says, C.R. England is to be avoided at all costs.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

i think once they get over a 1000 trucks they are all about the same. the only way to increase the bottom line is to screw the drivers.

Apply with some large carriers and see what happens:

    Trans-system
    Navajo
    Watkins & Shepard
    KKW

Take one and stick with it for 6 - 12 months before making any changes.

Can you tell us what happened with Schneider. What makes you think companies are discriminating you for?

Nothing happened really, except I don't think they gave me enough OTR training before they sent me solo, and I quit, so I'm looking to drive as a team for a little while first. Companies that might want a better work history and who didn't have a short-term job with another company might not be so eager to hire me. In other words, I might be stuck with one of the bottom of the barrel companies like Werner or Swift.

My big question is that you asked who you should try and get on with 3 months ago - what have you been doing since then?

You might try calling Schneider and seeing if you can go thru training again. Or call Gordon or Roehl

I would look into Prime Inc. They offer a decent training program.
