Which methods of payment are most preferred by owner operators when working with brokers? I know the question is so open ended, just looking to see what the typical preference is. Thanks

    Cheque by mail
Preferably immediately after I send you the pod and invoice (cash on delivery)

If you are new and want me to haul for you again soon this helps a lot. I keep new customers on a short leash, credit wise, until they show they're worth the risk.

That's right. The preferred method is NOW. Some brokers (often in produce) pay upon delivery (via Com-check, T-check etc). Some receivers even hand cash.
The point is that a new broker can instill trust only by uncompromised (for the lack of better word) payments.

    ElijahJohn1 Thanks this.

    Solid gold bars. lol

We like Check by mail within 30 days. Anymore then 45 and we take that into consideration whether to book with you or not. 60 days or more and it’s blacklist.

Some are going to ACH only (direct deposit). I find this annoying actually. Just send me an old school paper check that I can process and track easier.

When your a baby broker you may have to get creative in paying people the first 6 months or so. It’s sortof when your a new carrier and many don’t want to work with you. It’s the same as a new broker. So be ready to wire funds or do comchecks to ease peoples minds. Just make sure your not getting scammed.

Edit: Another problem you may run into is the carriers factoring company not accepting you so you think you have a load booked and carrier calls and says no sorry take me off. Then you gotta either talk them into you paying direct or find someone else. ALOT of people factor too. Getting your score up on DAT will help some is my advice.

Edit #2: I remember even calling the factoring company who declined me and offering whatever I could do (read begged) them to accept me. Once you can do this a couple times you get a little credit with them and it spreads.

    ACH.
Or check at delivery. I'll make a mobile deposit immediately.

Has to be ACH. One less thing to look for.

Would cash in the form of comcheck/comdata funds be as good as cash? Or do you mean literal bills
