If your not in the SW alot, Verizon sadly (I hate them and recently HAD to go back to them) If not AT&T is almost as good.
Make sure when your checking coverage maps it's set to data and not calling. -
all I see is the advertising that Verizion has the best but I have att on my cell and still have issues, I would prefer to have one of the other if it came down to it on service.

Verizon by far has the best coverage for long haul drivers. AT&T is decent. The rest are horrible if you leave the cities.
I bought a device from http://millenicom.com/plans/#hotspot-plan. They resell verizion service. You get the same great verizion coverage and speed for way cheaper. 20GB direct from Verizon cost 130/ month. From millenicom it cost 70/month. Same service with same device.
If your not gonna be a data hog, you may be able to get a decent rate combining hotspot with you cell plan and use your cell as a wifi router. That being said, if you use much more then 6 gb a month, the milenicome plan will be cheaper. -
Verizon, probably. I can't offer a comparison v other carriers, recent or otherwise, but a few years ago I found Verizon coverage and speed to far exceed my expectations. My partner and I swapped driving and "working" and found almost every mile of 80 across PA covered.

I use my phone as my internet hot spot, using Verizon, I get good connection speed from most anywhere I am located.

We use verizon Jetpak. The best we have used. Tried Sprint and freedom pop.

my cellphone
there's just absolutely no need for a mifi, or jetpack, or aircard, or whatever. -
Verizon has the best coverage hands down. Very seldom am I without Internet and usually 4g. It is however, expensive as hell if you use a lot. That being said..
Richter, these guys use verizons network? Do they throttle at certain points? Do you use them strictly for data or phone as well? I'd really love to see my phone bill look like a phone bill instead of a car payment lol.
EDIT Nevermind, I see they only do data. -
Matter of opinion. I like to be able to talk on the phone if searching the internet.
